Summer Reading Programs 2023: Sign Up, Read, Have Fun and Win Prizes!

Find all the summer reading programs in the NE Columbus

There are a variety of Summer Reading programs available in NE Columbus, including those offered by local libraries, bookstores, and community organizations. These programs offer incentives for reading with great prizes to motivate children to read all year long!

So, whether your child is an avid reader or is just being to discover the joy of reading, consider joining one of the many FREE Summer Reading programs that NE Columbus has to offer!

Below is a list of the summer reading programs in and around NE Columbus, including start dates and/or kick-off parties for local libraries, as well as a few non-library summer reading programs.  

2023 Free Summer Reading Programs:

Gahanna, New Albany, Reynoldsburg, Karl, Whetstone, Main Branch, Canal Winchester, and Whitehall  (and all other) Branches of the Columbus Metropolitan Library Summer Reading Program:

Sign-up starts June 1st for babies through adults.   Track reading and activities to earn badges and some fun prizes. The program runs through July 30th.  The Main library downtown has a kickoff event on June 3rd. See our events listing for all the great summer reading events!

Westerville Library Summer Reading Program:  Read and Connect is the theme this year. Sign-up starts May 26th and the program ends July 31st.  You'll set your goal and once achieved, you'll receive a prize!  Prizes depend on age group but include a free book or some great local coupons.

Worthington Libraries Summer Reading Program: Aim for the Starts: Summer Reading Club registration starts May 25th and runs through July 31st. The program is for children aged 0-18 and also adults. Various prizes can be earned from both reading and attending events.

Orange Park and Delaware Libraries Summer Reading Program: Camp DCDL: It is for ages 0 through adults. Registration opens May 28th and the program runs through August 19th.  Various prizes will be given at different marks in the program.

Bexley Library Summer Reading Program: This program is designed for ages 0- 12 (adults too). Registration starts June 2nd.  There are prizes and raffles to be won by completing the programming, including pool passes, top golf passes, Bluey Gift Basket and so much more!

Sunbury Summer Reading Program: Read, Grow and Wonder - Kick-off event on May 25th for all ages and runs through July 22nd. The are all kinds of amazing prizes throughout!

Pataskala Public Library Summer Reading Program: Oceans of Possibilities starts June 12th and runs through July 24th. The program is for kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade, teens, and adults.  

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program: Program runs July 1st through August 31st. Children in grades 1st through 6th can earn a free book once they complete their reading journal.

Half Price Books Summer Reading Camp: Sign up for summer reading camp and get lists of books, activities, and a themed schedule to keep you busy all summer long.
