Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens’ remarkable annual exhibition, Blooms & Butterflies, is scheduled to return on February 22- July 6, 2025.
Experience Blooms & Butterflies and immerse yourself in the enchanting Pacific Island Water Garden, where hundreds of vibrant exotic butterflies flutter freely in a warm, tropical paradise filled with brilliant nectar flowers. One of the most popular species featured is the blue morpho (Morpho peleides), known for its large, iridescent blue wings. This year’s exhibition will include approximately 17,000 pupae, with 800 butterflies arriving each week. On any given day, around 2,500 butterflies can be seen flying throughout the Pacific Island Water Garden.
The butterflies arrive at the Conservatory as chrysalises, which are then carefully placed inside the Conservatory’s Metamorphosis Lab. Here, they are cared for until they emerge. Visitors can view the chrysalises in the lab, learn about the butterfly life cycle, and observe butterflies in various stages of emergence.
Blooms & Butterflies is included with General Admission. For the best experience, guests are encouraged to visit during the day, as butterflies are most active on bright days with ample sunlight.
Join us on opening day, February 22nd, to create a special Sand Art butterfly or flower to commemorate the occasion. There is a $4 fee for each sand art craft. This event is included with your admission, and no registration is required; crafts are available while supplies last.
