13 Days of Halloween Books for Kids

Enjoy these Kid Friendly Tales

We are all about creating memories and traditions for every holiday in our home. We enjoy reading books to kick off every season and holiday. I can't think of a better way to spend those cold October nights than curled with with a fun seasonal book with your family. This is a great way to get everyone talking, connecting and off of those SCREENS! Here are some of the Halloween books that will be part of the Rostorfer 13 nights of Halloween countdown!


1.Haunted Harvest: Poems and Illustrations by Richard J. Anderson- This book has several different Halloween poems. Great for all ages. We usually pick one poem to go along with our Halloween reading.

2.Trick or Treat with Tow Truck Joe by June Sobel and Illustrated by Patrick Corrigan-T This book is fantastic for fans of the Little Blue Truck! Join Tow Truck Joe and his dog Patch on their Halloween night adventure

3. Happy Halloween from the Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle- This is a great books to practice rhyming words and get in the Halloween Spirit! This book includes interactive flips, making it perfect for all ages. 

4. Pumpkin Magic by Ed Masessa and Illustrated byNate Wragg- This is another fantastic Halloween book to practice rhyming. Enjoy this silly tale with playful pumpkins

5. Pete the Cat Trick or Treat by James Dean- Tyler is a big fan of Pete the Cat! This is a fun interactive book. Preschool and Kindergarten age kids really seem to enjoy any adventure with Pete the Cat! 

6. The Legend of Spookley by Joe Troiano and Illustrated by Susan Banta- This is a great Halloween story about not judging a book (or pumpkin) by it's cover. 

7. Halloween Hide and Seek by Elizabeth Golding, Moira Butterfield and Illustrations by Dean Gray- This is one of our ABSOLUTE favorite Halloween Books. There are different scenes and objects to find with a "Magic flashlight" within the book. This will definitely be a family favorite for years to come.

8. The Witch's Cat and the Cooking Catastrophe: By Kirstie and Illustrated by Magdalena Sawko- This is a funny story about a witch's cat that gets his paws on her cookbook. Enjoy this tale of magic and mischief! 

9. The Spooky Smells of Halloween by Mary Man- Kong and Illustrated by Viviana Garofoli- This is another ABSOLUTE favorite for Halloween. This is a scratch and Sniff book with some sweet and not so sweet smells of the season. This will be a book your kids want to read over and over again!

10. I Spy Spooky night by Walter Wick (pictures) and Jean Marzollo (riddles)- This is a classic I Spy book with a spooky twist. Great for all ages and the Whole family!

11. Duck and Goose Honk! Quack! Boo! by Tad Hills- Duck and Goose are another family favorite. We love their silly antics and adorable friendship!

12. At the Old Haunted House by Helen Ketteman and Illustrated by Nate Wragg- This is a fantastic book to teach rhyming and numbers. You'll want to read this one over and over again

13. A World full of Spooky Stories: 50 Tales to make your spine tingle by Angela McAllister and Illustrated by Madalina Andronic- We usually pick a few stories to read throughout the Halloween season. As a mom I LOVE that these spooky tales are from ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE!
