What we love about Blendon Woods Metro Park

We had so much fun exploring Blendon Woods! The 653-acre park is home to trails, forests, an amazing natural play area, and the Walden Waterfowl Refuge on Thoreau Lake. When we first entered the park we spotted the flock of wild turkeys that make their home there. The kids and I started out by walking the Sugarbush Trail. Stretching two miles through the woods and meadow, we saw all sorts of plants and wildlife. There are a couple of playground areas that we enjoyed, but the natural play area was the clear shining star. There were climbing ropes, an amazing zip line, and lots of space to climb and explore the woods and streams. We finished up by walking the lake trail. This is a short trail, but has incredible views, and ends at the Walden Waterfowl Refuge where we had a view of the lake and all the birds that live there. We can’t wait to see how the lake and wildlife change throughout the seasons.
