My Very Own Blanket

By Kelly W., NE Columbus Kid Ambassador Mom February 3, 2020

This Winter, a group of kids ages 4-15 found a way to give back to other kids in their community. A local non-profit, My Very Own Blanket, donates thousands of blankets each year to children in foster care. These fun and easy to make no-sew fleece blankets are a unique way to warm the hearts of children living in foster care. We had the children collect donations in the provided Coins for Kids in Care baggies (think change and dollar bills). One blanket kit is only $10 at the Westerville workshop!  It’s simple to host a blanket making event and so much fun on these cold, Ohio days!

Each blanket kit includes:

•  Patterned fleece to make one blanket

•  "No-sew”  blanket instructions

•  Fringe cutting template

•  Special tag to send a message of love and encouragement with every blanket you donate

We enjoyed making blankets and it warmed our hearts knowing that other children will receive a blanket to call their “very own.”
