Slime and play-dough are always a big hit in my house all year long! During the holiday's I usually try to mix things up and give our activities some holiday flare! This is a Christmas Peppermint slime! It's super easy and pretty much fail-proof. The peppermint extract gives a cooling sensation to the slime for an added sensory experience! This can be a fun holiday activity to do with kiddos on a cold day during winter break! The best part? These items are something you may already have at home! I like to use a basic fluffy slime recipe, as it is not as gooey, sticky or messy as some slime variations!
Ingredients:
- 1-2 cups of shaving cream (gel will not work)
- 2 tablespoons contact solution or slime activator (I always use ReNu solution)
- 4oz white washable glue
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- Food coloring of your choice- I have also used acrylic paint both work just fine!
- Optional: Glitter and Peppermint extract 1-2 drops (scented option)
Directions:
- Place glue into a plastic bowl
- Add holiday food coloring (or paint), glitter and peppermint extract until you reach desired color and scent
- Slowly add in your contact solution 1 Tablespoon at a time- mix until it is combined
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
- Add 1- 2 cups of shaving cream and mix until you are no longer able to stir, then continue to knead the slime with your hands. I personally add 1.5- 2 cups of shaving cream as I do not like a "sticky" slime!
- Mixing and kneading the slime will be messy at first. After a few minutes it will form together
- Slime will only stay fluffy for one day. After one day it will turn the consistency of regular slime. You can store slime in a container for about 5-7 days.
- Enjoy!
At Christmas time I usually make a batch of green, white and red. You can twist the slime together to make different swirls of color, like a candy cane. Eventually the colors will combine!
