Review: Northern Lights Elsa

My kids and I loved the movie Frozen. In fact, we all still sing “Let it go” randomly, and sometimes my oldest still sings it while in the shower (shhhhh, don’t tell anyone!). The messages in the movie were strong and good ones, so I am fine with us all still breaking out in song. And, since I am all girl, I was excited when we received the Northern Lights Elsa doll for our recent #MKHoliday Toy Preview party.

As my kids and I gathered around Elsa, I could tell they were intrigued and excited.  They took turns (sometimes fighting over turns) waving their hands over the magic snowflake to see what Elsa would say and do. When they waved their hand over the snowflake, Elsa’s dress created beautiful colors, lights, and sounds. When they just held their hand over the snowflake and kept it there, they could watch as her dress sparkled with the Northern Lights. She also asked for help and talked to the kids. This interaction really pulled kids in, and excited them. Elsa actually responds in an interactive way, encouraging kids to continue.

She has 40 phrases in all, and she sings “Let it go.” I’m not going to hide it, by the time she was finishing the song (each time!), my kids and I had joined in with her no matter where we were in the house and who was playing with her. Yes, that means she was a continuous hit. We were all big fans.

At our Holiday Toy Preview Party, all of the attendees loved how interactive Elsa was and how her dress changed colors and sparkled. There were also many comments about how beautiful she was, and one about how much they loved her braided hair. All in all, she was a huge hit! I'm sure there have been some Norther Lights Elsa additions to Christmas lists!

Northern Lights Elsa requires 2 AAA batteries for the snowflake, which are not included.  She is perfect for kids ages 3 years old and older, and is available at all major retailers including Target and ToysRUs, along with Amazon.
