Thanks to Jeannie, my son has now swung, spun, and raced through almost all the playgrounds in Westerville-and definitely has his favorites!


Here’s a list of our family’s top five favorite parks and playgrounds in Northeast Columbus and the reasons we love them:


Huber Village Park- Westerville
362 Huber Village
Features: .7 mile recreational pathway. The playground is entirely fenced in with only one entrance and exit. There is an area for smaller children and larger children. They have slides, nets, monkey bars, climbing walls, swings and more! There is a small shelter area for picnics and shade. Restrooms are available
What my son loves: Running from tower to tower. This also happens to be one of his favorite spots to have a picnic.
What I love: I love that this park is completely fenced with only one entry point. I like that there are multiple parks for smaller children and bigger children to play.


Millstone Creek Park- Westerville
745 N Spring Rd
Features: A massive play structure with something for kids of all ages. This park has it all from swings, music, slides, and so much more. This is an accessible playground for children of all capabilities to share and play. Parking is easy. There are several sports fields, basketball hoops, and picnic areas. There is a natural wooded are and creek area to explore!
What my son loves: The Neos 360 interactive play structure with music! He also LOVES the scavenger hunt map the is on the playground. He loves finding the scavenger hunt items again and again.
What I love: I love that this park has so much to offer! It is a massive structure with plenty for kids to do! I love that is is ALWAYS clean and inviting!

Johnston- McVay Park- Westerville
670 McCutcheon Rd
Features: Large natural playground with several different climbing structures. Take a stroll along storybook trail and read while you enjoy the great outdoors. Restrooms are available. You can explore the wooded and creek areas with natural wildlife.
What my son loves: The swinging rope and climbing/ exploring the natural characters. He absolutely LOVES walking the creek and exploring all the frogs!!
What I love: This park is so unique and whimsical. I love that there are educational areas all throughout the park along with a storybook trail!


Towers Park- Westerville
657 County Line Rd
Features: A small partially shaded playground. This playground is great for toddlers! It offers small structures with minimal steps to the slides. The park offers several different musical elements which is always a hit! There are several swings and a beautiful shaded picnic area on the grounds. There are also several sports fields in the surrounding area. There is a natural obstacle course for the older kids.
What my son loves: Balancing on the ropes and challenging him on the wooden obstacle course.
What I love: I love the parking is easy and this park typically isn't very crowded.

Hanby Park- Westerville
115 E. Park Street
Features: A smaller playground with swings, slides and a climbing area. In the summer they do have a small splash pad area which is perfect for smaller children. Bench seating is available as well as a nicely kept picnic area. The slides are designed for kids that are 5-12. They must climb to the top-no steps. There is a smaller park for younger children.
What my son loves: The climbing structures. He loves racing up and down the nets and rock walls to get to the slides
What I love: I love that this park is always very clean. I appreciate the little history lessons that can be found among the trees about our local Ohio Presidents!  Although it is smaller than some of the other parks listed it is not short on FUN!
