Meet our staff! At Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. our highly dedicated and specialized staff truly sets us apart! Melanie Shultz, M.A., CCC-SLP is the President of Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. She earned her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the American Speech Language Association and the International Association of Orofacial Myology. She is licensed by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology. Melanie is one of the few speech-language pathologists in the Columbus area who specializes in Myofunctional Therapy (Tongue Thrust Correction and Thumb Sucking Elimination). Melanie leads a proud team of speech-language pathologists who are all equally devoted to their craft and specialized areas of interest with the field of speech therapy. Melanie Shultz states, “I am amazed by the level of talent, passion, professionalism and dedication residing within my fellow SST speech-language pathologists. The work we are doing in our clinic is truly inspiring. Currently, we have one therapist leading a lively Social Language group for 6 to 8 year olds and down the hall a therapist is performing Vital Stim (electronic stimulation) on a stroke patient fighting to regain his ability to speak and swallow. It is truly amazing work and we are honored to be part of it!”  Melanie Shultz is joined by fellow speech therapists, Kate Szabo, Morgan Shaner, Mona Mehta, Allie Hadley, and Megan Mayer.

Meet our Pediatric Physical Therapy team! This dynamic program is led by SST physical therapists, Kathy Bollum, PT, DPT and Nicole Waite, MPT.  Kathy Bollum received her doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University in 2010. She had always shown a concentrated interest in the medical field, but found herself particularly drawn to the developmental needs of children. "Physical Therapy seemed like the perfect balance between my love for medicine and my passion for helping children meet their developmental milestones."  Nicole Waite received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Findlay in 2009.  Nicole brings to Specialized Speech Technologies, Inc. four years of experience as a Physical Therapist. Of those four years in practice, the last three have been primarily focused in the treatment of children.

Meet our Occupational Therapy team!  Jamie Cohn, MS, OTR/L graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University and received a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from Seton Hall University. She is certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and licensed by the state of Ohio. Furthermore, she is a member of American Occupational Therapy Association.  Jamie uses her creative ideas to make therapy fun in order to best address her clients’ goals. Her interests include sensory integration, aquatic therapy, and assistive technology. Jamie enjoys working with children of all ages and their families!  Jamie currently has availability to see clinic-based and home-health patients.  Jamie Cohn is joined by fellow occupational therapists, Lori Porter, Beth Lucas, Nicole Cappocia, and Kendra Rutledge.  These amazing therapists have extensive experience in school-based practice, outpatient clinics, and nursing homes. They all have a true passion for working with individuals experiencing physical and cognitive disabilities.

"I love being a PT because I get to experience a child having a 'first' moment.  The first time rolling over or the first step.
There is nothing like it! The look on the face
of the child and the parent is just immeasurable!"
