Learn more about Brandy, the local mom who started Seeds of Caring, below.  We feel that she is a great local mom on a mission!

What inspired you to start Seeds of Caring?
Before becoming a mom, volunteering was a regular part of my life and a true passion of mine.  Once my kiddos came along I wanted to volunteer with them but found it hard to find opportunities that were kid-friendly (and understandably so, as sometimes "two steps forward, one step back" is just the way it is with curious, active kids).  Talking with other moms, I found out I wasn't alone in seeking these opportunities.  So I founded Seeds of Caring to fill a need for families in our community.  My background in social work and non-profit management were a good fit to get an organization like this off the ground.

When you aren't busy at Seeds of Caring events, what else do you enjoy doing with your kids?
Our kids, ages 4 and 2.5, LOVE to be outside, splashing in the creek, hiking through the woods, and most of all investigating bugs. :)  I love to explore the Metro Parks with them, take bike rides, and go camping!

What do you hope your own kids get from Seeds of Caring activities and events?
I want my kids to always be kind to and show compassion for others.  I also hope that these new experiences help them develop an "attitude of gratitude" that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

What upcoming Seeds of Caring event are you most excited about?
It's hard to choose just one!  I'm really excited about the music gatherings at senior care centers because children have a way of lighting up a room and I believe they will do just that for many of the residents.  Also, I think the Pilot Dog program will be a great way for kids to learn about the visually impaired....and who doesn't want to make dog treats?!?
